China Ranks Third in Global Industrial Robot Density

Recently, the International Federation of Robotics (IFR) released the "World Robotics 2024" report, which states that the pace of robot application in China has continued to accelerate. In terms of robot density, China has surpassed Germany and Japan, ranking third in the world. Currently, China's industrial robot density has reached 470 robots per 10,000 employees. China is the world's largest industrial robot market to date, with data showing that in 2023, China installed 276,000 industrial robots, accounting for 51% of the global new installations.

According to Qichacha data, over the past decade, the number of industrial robot-related companies registered in China has increased year by year. In 2023, 69,500 such companies were registered, setting a new high for the decade. As of November 29, 2024, China had registered 60,700 industrial robot-related companies. In terms of existing companies, there are 302,000 industrial robot-related companies in China. More than 30% of these companies are in the scientific research and technical services industry. In terms of registered capital, the majority of industrial robot-related companies in China have a registered capital of 2 million yuan or less, accounting for 49.8% in total.

From the perspective of registration volume: This year, 60,000 industrial robot-related companies have been registered.

Qichacha data shows that over the past decade, the registration volume of industrial robot-related companies in China has increased year by year, with a significant jump of 98.2% in 2020 to 28,700, marking the largest growth rate in the past decade. In 2021, the registration volume of industrial robot-related companies in China exceeded 50,000 for the first time, increasing by 79.5% to 51,600. In 2023, China cumulatively registered 69,500 industrial robot-related companies, setting a new high for the decade. As of November 29, 2024, China had registered 60,700 industrial robot-related companies.

From the perspective of industry distribution: Over 30% of companies belong to the scientific research and technical services industry.

Qichacha data shows that among the existing 302,000 industrial robot-related companies in China, the largest number, 93,000, belong to the scientific research and technical services industry, accounting for 31.1%. This is followed by companies in the wholesale and retail trade, totaling 67,500, accounting for 22.6%, and manufacturing companies, totaling 58,600, accounting for 19.6%. From the perspective of registered capital: Companies with registered capital of 2 million yuan or less account for nearly half.

Qichacha data reveals that among the existing industrial robot companies with disclosed registered capital, the largest number have a registered capital of 1 million yuan or less, accounting for 26.2%. The next largest group is companies with registered capital between 1 million and 2 million yuan, accounting for 23.6%. Overall, the registered capital of industrial robot-related companies in China is predominantly 2 million yuan or less, combining to account for 49.8%. Additionally, companies with registered capital between 10 million and 50 million yuan account for 16.3%.
