Recently, Shenzhen Pudu Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Pudu Robotics), a leading global service robotics company, officially unveiled its first full-size bipedal humanoid robot, PUDU D9, and plans to open pre-sales in the near future. According to public information, Changyingxin (affiliated with Changying Precision 300115) was an angel round investor in Pudu Robotics, while Tencent invested in its Series B funding round.
"Born to be Human" Humanoid Robot
It is understood that Pudu Robotics' newly released PUDU D9 humanoid robot is designed entirely based on adult human proportions. It adheres to the core design philosophy of "born to be human," striving to be as capable as humans and aiming to become a true embodied intelligence that can perform various generalized tasks for humans. PUDU D9 stands at 170cm tall and weighs 65kg, with 42 degrees of freedom in its joints and a maximum joint torque of 352Nm. Equipped with the company's self-developed five-finger dexterous hand, PUDU DH11, it possesses highly anthropomorphic bipedal walking and bilateral hand manipulation abilities, supporting traversal of stairs, slopes, rugged roads, and other common urban terrains. Through algorithms, it achieves seamless switching between standing, walking, running, and other movements. PUDU D9 adopts an industry-leading visual semantic navigation solution, enabling the robot to comprehensively and deeply understand its environment, accurately locate its positional relationship with the environment, and autonomously plan routes based on tasks to achieve flexible navigation and instant obstacle avoidance.
In addition, PUDU D9 is equipped with high-precision visual, tactile, force, and auditory sensors to comprehensively acquire multimodal information from the real environment and provide feedback after processing through its "cerebrum + cerebellum." When connected to a large model, PUDU D9 can achieve multimodal natural human-robot interaction comparable to real humans, better serving people.
In the latest demonstration video, PUDU D9 showcased its bipedal abilities, completing actions such as upright walking, disturbance rejection, and ascending slopes, and operated another Pudu product, PUDU SH1, to complete ground cleaning tasks. The demonstration video clearly shows that Pudu Robotics' PUDU D9 has reached top-level technology globally in various aspects.
Who is Pudu Robotics, capable of developing and manufacturing such high-level humanoid robots? According to public information, Pudu Robotics was founded in 2016 and offers more than ten products in three categories: commercial delivery robots, commercial cleaning robots, and industrial delivery robots. With over a thousand authorized patents worldwide, its business spans more than 60 countries and regions, making it a leading player in the global service robotics industry.
A report by the international authoritative institution Frost & Sullivan reveals that Pudu Robotics firmly holds the largest market share globally and leads Chinese manufacturers going overseas with nearly half of the market share. Its robots are widely used in various industries and scenarios such as catering, retail, hotels, healthcare, entertainment and sports, industrial manufacturing, and education, with cumulative shipments exceeding 80,000 units, making it the service robotics enterprise with the highest shipments worldwide.
With its strong competitive strength in the robotics field, Pudu Robotics has gained recognition from multiple domestic technology giants and industrial capital. It has secured investments from renowned industrial investors including Tencent, Changyingxin Investment, Meituan, Sequoia China, Shenzhen Investment Holding, Greater Bay Area Fund, Puhua Capital, and QC Capital.
Among them, Changyingxin Investment is affiliated with A-share listed company Changying Precision, which itself is a significant player in the humanoid robot industry chain and a crucial supplier of key components for humanoid robots, providing joint gears, bearings, and other essential parts to the top two humanoid robot companies in North America.
Recently, Citibank's latest report predicted that the global market for humanoid robots will reach a size of USD 7 trillion by 2050, with the number of global humanoid robots reaching 648 million units. Facing the rapidly growing market for humanoid robots, companies deeply involved in the field, including Pudu Robotics and Changying Precision, may usher in unprecedented development opportunities.
