On February 21, it was disclosed by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) that Ford Motor Company will recall certain 2020-2021 model year Explorer and Aviator vehicles, totaling 240,510 units.
The recall is due to the possibility that one or more of the seat belt buckle anchor bolts may not have been properly secured.
Furthermore, if the vehicle is equipped with a second-row center seat, the seat belt retractor anchor bolt and/or the seat belt anchor bolt at this position might also not have been correctly fastened. A loose seat belt or seat belt buckle may fail to effectively restrain occupants during a collision, increasing the risk of injury.
