Recently, the International Stainless Steel Forum (ISSF) released statistical data showing that the global crude stainless steel production in 2024 reached 62.6 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 7%.
Specifically, production in Europe increased by about 1.5% to 6.088 million tons; in the United States, it rose by approximately 6.9% to 1.95 million tons; in Mainland China, it grew by around 7.5% to 39.441 million tons; in Asia excluding China and South Korea, it increased by about 6.4% to 7.322 million tons; and in other regions (Brazil, Indonesia, Russia, South Africa, South Korea), it went up by roughly 9.2% to 7.82 million tons.
In the fourth quarter of 2024, the global crude stainless steel production reached 16.453 million tons, a quarter-on-quarter increase of about 4.9%. Among them, production in Europe decreased by around 7.4% quarter-on-quarter to 1.394 million tons; in the United States, it dropped by approximately 8.5% to 0.441 million tons; in Mainland China, it increased by about 8.5% to 10.736 million tons; in Asia excluding China and South Korea, it grew by around 8.6% to 1.928 million tons; and in other regions (Brazil, Indonesia, Russia, South Africa, South Korea), it decreased by about 3.7% to 1.954 million tons.
