On November 29, the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Automotive Supply Chain Industry Alliance (hereinafter referred to as the "Alliance") was established in Wuqing District, Tianjin. The event gathered the automotive industry authorities from the three regions, the China Automotive Technology & Research Center (CATARC), nearly 200 vehicle and parts companies, to discuss industrial development and cooperation, and to build an industrial ecosystem.
The Alliance currently has over 300 member units, including vehicle manufacturers, parts suppliers, universities, research institutes, and industry organizations. It aims to create a comprehensive service platform that integrates technology research and development, resource integration, standard setting, and brand promotion. The Alliance will also fully empower the construction and development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Intelligent Connected New Energy Vehicle Technology Eco-Park, playing a role in "building bridges, establishing platforms, improving supporting systems, and gathering strengths," to attract outstanding enterprises in the industry, build a platform for cooperation and exchange, strengthen the regional supply chain system, and draw more high-quality resources to the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region.
Yin Jihui, Secretary of the Party Committee and Director of the Tianjin Municipal Bureau of Industry and Information Technology, expressed his hope that the Alliance would fully play its role in "building bridges, establishing platforms, improving supporting systems, and gathering strengths." He aims to drive the vehicle companies in the three regions to take a leading role in fostering a batch of key parts suppliers locally, encourage parts companies to support nearby vehicle manufacturers, continuously increase the matching rate of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, ensure the safety of their own industrial chains, and create a complementary and win-win supply system for vehicle companies in the three regions. He also urged parts companies to accelerate their transformation towards intelligence, increase research and development efforts, keep up with the iteration speed of new vehicle models, and continuously reduce production costs to jointly face the increasingly fierce competition in the automotive market. Additionally, universities and industry organizations should fully support industrial development, with universities and research institutes providing technical and talent support for the key links in the production of new energy and intelligent connected vehicles in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region. Industry organizations should offer services in research and development leadership, standard setting, and think-tank services. He warmly welcomed entrepreneurs and visionaries to invest in Tianjin and Wuqing, promising to deepen the integration of the automotive innovation chain, industrial chain, and supply chain in the three regions, build a vibrant and closely coordinated regional industrial ecosystem, achieve resonance and integrated development of the entire chain in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, and realize mutual benefit and win-win results.
An Tiejun, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of CATARC, pointed out that the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region is a key area for the concentration of China's automotive industry. From January to October 2024, the region's automotive production reached 2.3077 million units, accounting for 9.4% of the national total, and has a solid foundation for the automotive supply chain. Located in Tianjin, CATARC has long been committed to promoting the deep integration of the automotive industry in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region and supporting the high-quality development of China's automotive industry. As an initiator of the Alliance, CATARC not only provides technical support with its deep background and authoritative position in automotive standard setting, policy research, technology development, and testing certification but also actively promotes the exchange and cooperation among enterprises within the Alliance, encourages resource sharing and collaborative innovation. By optimizing supply chain management and integrating industry resources, CATARC aims to build an open, cooperative, and win-win platform, helping the automotive industry in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region to achieve transformation, upgrading, and high-quality development, and jointly handle the challenges and opportunities brought by the global automotive industry transformation. During the meeting, member units of the Alliance gathered to witness the establishment ceremony. The meeting also included the signing ceremony of the strategic cooperation agreement between the Tianjin Municipal Bureau of Industry and Information Technology and CATARC, with both parties agreeing to strengthen comprehensive cooperation and promote the transformation and upgrading of Tianjin's new energy and intelligent connected vehicle industry, as well as the construction of CATARC into a world-class comprehensive automotive technology enterprise.
Moving forward, the three regions of Beijing, Tianjin, and Hebei will continue to strengthen cooperation and exchange in the field of new energy and intelligent connected vehicles, jointly promoting industrial innovation and development. Tianjin will actively implement the major national strategy of coordinated development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, jointly build the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Intelligent Connected New Energy Vehicle Technology Eco-Park with Beijing and Hebei, and create a first-class advanced manufacturing cluster for intelligent connected new energy vehicles.
