National High-End Comp. Quality Test Center Setup

The State Administration for Market Regulation recently approved the establishment of a National High-End Basic Component Product Quality Inspection and Testing Center. High-end basic components are the fundamental building blocks of high-end equipment and a crucial part of the modern industrial infrastructure. They are widely used in fields such as aerospace, shipping, industrial machinery, new energy vehicles, and national defense and economic construction. The level of industrialization of these components directly determines the level of autonomy of China's high-end equipment.

The development trends of high-end basic components, characterized by "Three Excesses" (ultra-high strength, ultra-high temperature, and ultra-severe service conditions), "Three Extremes" (extremely large, extremely small, and extremely precise), and "Three Transformations" (lightweight, integrated structure and function, and multi-process complexification), have become increasingly prominent, which also leads to higher demands on the testing technology and quality evaluation methods for high-end basic components.

The National High-End Basic Component Product Quality Inspection and Testing Center will strengthen the testing and evaluation capabilities of high-end basic components in terms of ultra-high precision, ultra-high performance, ultra-high lifespan, and extreme environmental performance by breaking through a series of new technologies such as temperature/vibration/corrosion multi-field coupling tests, micro/nano-scale morphological performance multi-parameter tests, and high-performance multi-scale measurement information sensing tests. It will develop component testing technologies and advanced quality evaluation methods tailored for the extreme service application requirements of high-end equipment, effectively breaking through key bottlenecks such as "unmeasurable performance" and "unwillingness to use products," and accelerating the pace of localization of high-end basic components in key areas.

It is understood that the National Fastener Standardization Technical Committee is one of the units responsible for the establishment of the testing center.

The Committee is responsible for the standardization work in the professional field, which includes terminology and definitions, dimensions and tolerances, mechanical and physical properties and functional characteristics, surface treatment, test methods, acceptance and quality procedures, fastening system/connection design and calculation, assembly methods, and assembly/connection qualifications (including fastening systems, assembly tools, and personnel qualifications) for fasteners and fastening connections nationwide. The products involved include bolts, studs, nuts, screws, wood screws, self-tapping screws, pins, washers, rivets, retaining rings, assemblies, and connection pairs, as well as other categories (such as weld nails), totaling twelve major categories (excluding aerospace-specific fasteners) in the professional field of national standard development and revision.

The current National Fastener Standardization Technical Committee is the fourth of its kind, consisting of 61 experts and engineering technicians from specialized fastener production, usage, distribution, scientific research, and management.
