Xinhua News Agency, Shijiazhuang, December 25 -- Known as the "grains of industry," fasteners such as screws, nuts, and bolts are indispensable in various products. Many of these small parts are produced in Yongnian District, Handan City, Hebei Province, which is known as the "Capital of Fasteners in China." In 2023, the output value of fasteners in Yongnian District exceeded 42 billion yuan, accounting for 58% of the national market and 28% of the global market, with products exported to more than 110 countries and regions.
The fastener industry in Yongnian District originated in the 1960s and 1970s when farmers in Linmingguan Town started developing sidelines during their leisure time, gradually forming an industry scale. After the reform and opening-up, family workshops replaced the production teams, and the manually crafted fasteners transitioned to mechanical production, significantly increasing output. In the new century, to address industrial backwardness, Yongnian District began to rectify and upgrade the industry by building industrial parks and introducing intelligent production lines to achieve industrial upgrading.
Currently, Linmingguan Town can produce all 12 major categories and 289 sub-categories of fasteners, covering more than 30,000 specifications and models, which are used in multiple fields. The industrial upgrade has driven the development of the logistics industry, forming a complete industrial chain. In 2023, the fastener industry cluster in Yongnian District was recognized as a "National Specialized Cluster of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises."
In 2024, Yongnian District successfully hosted the International Procurement Conference, attracting domestic and foreign enterprises with intended orders reaching 1.9 billion yuan. From January to August, the export of fasteners exceeded 1.1 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 11%. The half-century-old screw industry has created tremendous economic value for the local area.
