November 7 news, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) issued a recall notice involving certain high-performance models of Porsche. The notice states that some Porsche models have a serious issue with the wheel hub securing system, which could cause the wheels to detach and affect the safety of the vehicle.
According to the information, the affected models include the 2024 911, 2024 718 Spyder RS, and 718 Cayman GT4 RS, totaling 1851 vehicles. NHTSA points out that these models have a manufacturing defect in the central locking wheel hub securing system, which could lead to bolt breakage and subsequently cause the wheels to fall off.
Porsche has indicated that between September and October of this year, the company discovered multiple vehicle accidents caused by the fracture of central locking bolts. The company is still investigating, but it appears that all issues stem from a batch of defective bolts. Given the safety risk, Porsche has decided to recall the affected vehicles and advise owners to stop driving their cars. Dealers will inspect the central locking wheel hub components of the vehicles and replace the defective parts.
